Meet my friend Heidi. She and I met when our boys, now each 19, were 3. They both attended a private school which would provide Heidi and I many opportunities to spend time together. Back then most of our time, for obvious reasons revolved around the kids and volunteering at the school. She and I bonded because we had one important thing in common; we, to the core of our being, love being with our kids and their friends. So we both, often times daily, were at every function and every fundraiser etc…
As the years passed and our kids became a bit more independent we began scrap-booking and doing crafts. It was our “girls night out” if you will. We were making time for ourselves, yet we were surrounded with pictures of our family and discussion was usually about ways to become better moms and improve our family life.
As the years continued to quickly pass, and we found our kids even more independent, we than realized it was ‘our’ time to nurture our-self. We began attending spiritual events and reading self help and discovery books to learn how to become more whole now that our kids were beginning to leave an empty void that needed to be filled. Looking back I realize it is never too soon to begin that journey. We can fill our-self with so much, yet if we are not at peace, much of it is just that… ‘STUFF’.
Anyway, the last few years we become filled with ideas and thoughts and plans and have continued to share, discuss, agree ,disagree and walk together with the burning desire to bring peace, serenity, the Lord and goodness into our life and that of our family. (no worries though we still make time to scrapbook)
Heidi is and always has been someone from the day I met her, such an inspiration on so many levels. Her generosity and genuine love for others and animals far exceeds anyone I have ever met. She has an amazing belief in God, is the most patient Wife and Mother I honestly have ever wittnessed and truly, a very, very good friend to have.
We have had so many experiences and memories and they have always began with a foundation of pure, unselfish love for those that we hold dear.I’ve created this section of my Blog to be a place that I can tell tales of our journey together and write about much of what she and I have done, are doing or currently discussing. I hope it will prompt others to do some of these things and that you will find the joy we have and/or learn and grow as we will continue to do from the adventure of our friendship. She truly has so much to teach and share and I for one am so very blessed to call her my friend. So, with that said, please get a cup of coffee or herb tea and let me be the first to welcome you to Heidi’s Corner…
